The Catholic Women’s League of Canada, PEI Provincial Council held it’s 103rd Annual Convention on May 2-3, 2025 at the Veteran’s Convention Centre, Credit Union Place in Summerside. We had 137 members and guests in attendance.
Friday evening we participated in a Candle Lighting Ceremony & the Crowning of Mary before hearing from our Guest Speaker RCMP Staff Sargent Derrick Blanche who spoke on Human Trafficking. Gay Garvey, Past Provincial President, received her Life Membership pin before the Life Members entertained us with a skit. We also heard a Spiritual Reflection from Crissy Czank, Provincial Faith Chair, Isabel Quinn, Provincial Social Justice Chair and Fr. Danny Wilson, Spiritual Advisor.
Saturday, we began with Mass at St. Paul’s Church before the annual meeting of members began. We had 38 first time convention attendees join us and they each received a small rose. Our Provincial President, Karen Rossiter, presented on Synodality and we had great table discussion on what councils can do to attract new members and to have better meetings. We enjoyed a lovely banquet meal and heard greetings from The Honorable Barb Ramsay, Councilor Norma McColeman, Basil Favaro, Knights of Columbus State Secretary and Fr. Peter Wojakiewics, who was our Keynote Speaker. After lunch the business meeting continued and we had the Provincial Election & Installation of Officers.
