Irene met her husband Bill shortly after moving to PEI. They have twin girls and now have two granddaughters and two grandsons. Before Irene was married, she chose to join the RCIA program at St. Pius X church and became a Catholic in 1985. This was very special for Irene and her husband as he was her sponsor. Irene helped out in her church as a Eucharist minister, Catechism teacher and choir member, and a member of the Finance & Property Committee for the Parish. Today she continues to sing in the Adult Choir and the Morning Choir for funerals and also cantors. She joined the CWL in 2006 and has been active in her council as President, Past Present and Community Life convener. Irene has served as Provincial Treasurer, President Elect & Organization chair and became Provincial President at the provincial convention in May, 2016. Irene is also involved in a number of Organizations including the IODE, Royal Canadian Legion, Seniors’ Active Living Centre & the Oak Tree Singers, Board member of the Charlottetown Branch for the National Association of Federal Retirees, and has served in a number of positions including Provincial Commissioner with Girl Guides for 53 years.
Irene began her CWL journey later in life but has certainly shown her commitment to Mission and Vision of the CWL.
